JUDAS PRIEST Frontman Pays Tribute To SYSTEM OF A DOWN, ALICE IN CHAINS
November 30, 2002Several photos and video clips of Ohio-based cover band THE SICKNESS, featuring a special guest appearance by JUDAS PRIEST frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens, have been posted online via the group's official web site at this location. Available for streaming/download are clips of Owens singing ALICE IN CHAINS' "It Ain't Like That", SYSTEM OF A DOWN's "Aerials" and backing up regular THE SICKNESS frontman Tim Zuver on a cover of KORN's "Here To Stay".
As previously reported, Ripper has been passing time recently by making several live appearances with THE SICKNESS, whose lineup includes two of Owens' former bandmates, bassist Dennis Hayes (formerly of Tim's pre-PRIEST band WINTERS BANE) and drummer Tim Semelsberger (from an early Ripper-fronted cover band, U.S. METAL).
THE SICKNESS, a self-dubbed "raging extreme-rock tribute" band, perform a set list that leans heavily on the "nu metal" side of things and includes tracks by such acts as DISTURBED ("Stupify", "Prayer", "Down With The Sickness"),GODSMACK ("Awake", "Voodoo", "I Stand Alone", "Greed"),LINKIN PARK ("In The End", "One Step Closer"),LIMP BIZKIT ("Break Stuff", "Hot Dog"),CREED ("Bullets", "What If"),PAPA ROACH ("Last Resort"),and DROWNING POOL ("Bodies").
